CDPlayer

A 'remote control' for the CD-ROM drive

CDPlayer is like a remote control for the CD-ROM drive. It completely by-passes Haiku's media services. If your CD-ROM drive doesn't support that or its audio outputs aren't connected to speakers (or routed through your soundcard), you won't hear a thing ... Modern computers only rarely fulfill these requirements. In that case you're better off mounting the CD in Tracker and use MediaPlayer to play back the audio files in its wav folder.

ffmpegGUI

A graphical front-end for ffmpeg

ffmpegGUI is a tool for transcoding and converting audio/video files using the multiplatform ffmpeg suite. While ffmpeg is extremely powerful, it can be intimidating to construct the correct parameters on the commandline. ffmpegGUI's native interface lets you choose source and output files, set audio/video codecs and container format, bitrate, framerate, samplerate etc., change video resolution and crop the picture. You can also make a lossless '1:1 copy' of the audio or video track to quickly transcode to another container format. ffmpegGUI assembles the resulting ffmpeg commandline, that you can then tweak manually or copy to use in your own scripts if needed. Or you simply click 'Start' to begin the encoding. You can also create encoding jobs to process them all in a batch later. Currently included container formats/codecs:

  • Video containers: avi, mkv, mp4, mpeg-1, ogg, webm
  • Audio containers: mp3, oga, wav
  • Video codecs: mjpeg, mpeg4, theora, vp8, vp9, wmv1, wmv2
  • Audio codecs: aac, ac3, dts, flac, mp3, pcm16, vorbis (only with video codec theora)

Flacon

Extracts audio tracks from an audio CD image to separate tracks

Flacon extracts individual tracks from one big audio file containing the entire album of music and saves them as separate audio files. To do this, it uses information from the appropriate CUE file. Besides, Flacon makes it possible to conveniently revise or specify tags both for all tracks at once or for each tag separately.
