BorgBackup (short: Borg) is a deduplicating backup program for the commandline. Optionally, it supports compression and authenticated encryption. The main goal of Borg is to provide an efficient and secure way to backup data. The data deduplication technique used makes Borg suitable for daily backups since only changes are stored. The authenticated encryption technique makes it suitable for backups to not fully trusted targets.

Boxedwine

Linux Emulator that runs WINE

Boxedwine is an emulator that runs Windows applications. It achieves this by running an unmodified 32-bit version of Wine, and emulating the Linux kernel and CPU. It is written in C++ with SDL and is supported on multiple platforms. Features:

BurnItNow

An application to burn audio and data discs

BurnItNow is a GUI frontend for cdrecord and mkisofs. It burns data and ISO images, and blanks rewritable RW media (the blanking depends very much on the used hardware and its configuration). It creates Audio CDs from drag & dropped WAV files and burns pre-authored DVD-Audio and DVD-Video.

Clipdinger

A tool to manage a history of the system clipboard

Clipdinger solves the problem that you often have to paste some text you've just recently copied to the clipboard, but which has been replaced by something you've copied more recently… It also saves the history so it'll appear just as you left it on the last shutdown. Clipdinger provides a history of your recent clippings, lets you filter it and create your own favorites. It also offers a clipboard monitor that can be used as a replicant on the Desktop, always showing the current contents. You access the history by pressing SHIFT + ALT + V, which opens the Clipdinger window where you can select an entry with the cursor keys and paste it by hitting RETURN. After selecting a clip, you can also paste it to the an online service by hitting ALT + P. The returned URL for the clip is put into the clipboard for you to paste into your email or IRC channel etc. ESCAPE minimizes the window without pasting.

You can easily choose a color and then drag it to the place where you need it: for example the Haiku Desktop, Insite Constructor, any text editor (insert as HTML hex code) and much more ... The Features:

CommandTimer

Execute or repeat commands after a countdown

CommandTimer counts down to zero then executes a user provided command or script or launches an application etc. You can point to a location that the command will be executed in, and choose to keep repeating that countdown and also set an alarm that'll play back the system beep (set in Haiku's Sounds preferences).

FileCropper is a GUI app which truncates files of any kind. It cuts off everything from a given offset (bytes) to the end of the file.

Filer

An automated file management and sorting system

The Filer is a powerful, flexible automatic file organizer. It is an implementation of the 'Sorting Chute' idea conceived on the Glass Elevator mailing list for Haiku. Filer takes the files it's opened with or that are dropped onto its icon or replicatable dropzone and moves, renames, copies or does all sorts of other things with them according to rules created by the user. Filer is accompanied by AutoFiler. Instead of working on a set of files provided by the user, it can be started together with Haiku to monitor certain folders and deal with new files appearing there according to the user-defined rules.

Fortuna

A small GUI for showing the well known fortunes

Fortuna is a nice-looking graphical program which displays a fortune when you open it. Yeah, sure, there is already a fortune program, but it only shows from the command line, you'll get a lot of repeats, it's quite a bit of work to install more, and you have to muck around with your UserBootScript. Lots of messing around. Then again, you can use Fortuna, which has none of this.

Genesis Commander is a full featured file manager in the tradition of the Norton Commander for DOS or the GNU Midnight Commander.

Kate

Advanced text editor

Kate is a multi-document editor part of KDE since release 2.2. Being a KDE application, Kate ships with network transparency, as well as integration with the outstanding features of KDE. Choose it for viewing HTML sources from konqueror, editing configuration files, writing new applications or any other text editing task. You still need just one running instance of Kate. With a multi-view editor like Kate you get a lot of advantages. You can view several instances of the same document and all instances are synchronized. Or you can view more files at the same time for easy reference or simultaneous editing.

LuckyBackup

A powerful, fast and reliable backup & sync tool

An application that backs-up and/or synchronizes any directories with the power of rsync. It is simple to use, fast (transfers over only changes made and not all data), safe (keeps your data safe by checking all declared directories before proceeding in any data manipulation), reliable and fully customizable.

Maps

A map application

"Maps" is a minimalistic map viewer app that is simple and easy to use. Search for places by typing the name or the coordinates of the place in the search box and get results by pressing enter. Zoom in and out by scrolling your mouse. Drag with your mouse to move around.

Midnight Commander

A powerful file manager

GNU Midnight Commander is a text-mode full-screen file manager. It uses a two panel interface and a subshell for command execution. It includes an internal editor with syntax highlighting and an internal viewer with support for binary files. Also included is Virtual Filesystem (VFS), that allows files on remote systems (e.g. FTP, SSH servers) and files inside archives to be manipulated like real files.

MinimizeAll

Minimize all your apps with the press of a button!

MinimizeAll is a small app that minimizes all your apps with the press of a button on the Deskbar, or with a keypress. The app contains two parts: A standalone app that minimizes the whole app, and a replicant for your Deskbar. Both do the same: Minimize all your apps!

A cute mascot on the active window

Moe is a program that displays a cute mascot on the active window. You can have your own 'window sitter' by drag and dropping an image (best a transparancy preserving PNG) onto the Moe binary. Do read the accompanying documentation to learn about all options and how to set up animated mascots.

Automatic desktop color changer

This program was inspired by the 'TaveDesktop' program by the Tave Software Group. I think that 'TaveDesktop' was a good idea, but I wanted to be able to choose my own colors, since the 'TaveDesktop' colors looks bad on an 8bpp display. This program should be self-explanatory. You'll find a small Popup menu when clicking the small screen at the top-right corner of the window.
