Updating Haiku

Haiku comes supplied with the SoftwareUpdater application, which can be used to update both the operating system and its applications. There is no conceptual distiction between the two, although they may be hosted on different repositories. SoftwareUpdater can also be accessed from the menu on HaikuDepot.
Alternatively, the command-line application pkgman
can be be used. It accesses the same repositories as SoftwareUpdater.
Some ported applications may have their own built-in update detection and installation systems. Don't use them! They won't work, and they may mess up your system. If you can turn update detection off in the app's settings, do so.
Applications that are not in a repository, but that were just downloaded from a website can not be updated by SoftwareUpdater, even if you downloaded them in .hpkg format. You will just have to chack the website from time to time.
